A high level of aptitude is expected along with the ability to determine innovative solutions to the numerous design challenges which present themselves during a typical design project. Evidence of this capability should be demonstrated by the candidate. Candidates will also be required to have an understanding of the commercial aspects of a consultancy business and to be able to present themselves and their work to a customer. 

  • Reporting to the VP Engineering
  • Design and analysis of automotive transmission systems and components, such as gears, shafts, housings, selector systems, clutch systems, hydraulics etc. 
  • Technical leadership of projects and project engineers
  • Experience of the design and analytical requirements of various transmission architectures
  • Ability to apply knowledge of analytical techniques to the design process
  • Knowledge of a transmission design analysis package (MASTA, Romax, Kissoft) would be an advantage 


  • Technical responsibility for design projects of a broad variety in both content and value – responsibility dependent on level of experience
  • CAD design experience preferred using any of Pro-E, Inventor, CATIA, UG NX to detail design and drawing
  • Technical and commercial management of projects
  • Generation and maintenance of customer relationships
  • Component or system design analysis (hand calculation and design analysis software)
  • Presentation and communication of technical design elements to client companies
  • Compliance with company processes and quality standards 

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be a US person under ITAR
  • Eight years of automotive transmission design and or analysis with technical responsibility of product
  • High standard of competency in transmission design analysis
  • Experience in 3D CAD and checking-release of detailed drawings
  • Some travel within the USA and to overseas client sites is also anticipated (approximately 10%)
