The role involves the specification, design, development and calibration of driveline and transmission control systems predominantly for multispeed transmissions and hybrid technology. Candidates will ideally have some prior experience in automotive powertrain systems and or with control system development. The successful applicant will become an integral part of the busy Transmission Control team.

It is expected that candidates will have a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and relevant experience in the following areas:

  • A sound understanding of vehicle systems and vehicle powertrain
  • Requirements capture for automotive control systems
  • Model based design techniques for automotive applications
  • Knowledge of MATLAB\Simulink\Stateflow for algorithm design
  • RTW/Embedded coder for auto code generation
  • Test rig based development and calibration
  • Functional vehicle development and calibration
  • Specific responsibility for complete software delivery or individual modules will be assigned for each project depending on prior experience
  • Technical and commercial management of projects as well as generating and maintaining customer relationships
  • Compliance with and development of software standards
  • Presentation and communication of technical project elements to client companies
  • Prior experience in the use of calibration tools such as CANape or INCA would be advantageous
  • An understanding of the requirements of fulfilling ISO26262 and/or ISO13849 would also be advantageous
  • A high level of aptitude is expected along with the ability to determine innovative and robust solutions to the numerous control challenges which present themselves during a typical project

Minimum Requirements

  • Considerable experience of automotive control development
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Fundamentals of automatic transmission operation and controls
  • High standard of algorithm modelling
