Seeking a candidate with strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team and lead by example. You will be responsible for all engineering activities within the company. Must understand the difference between being a leader and a manager, and must be able to wear both hats comfortably. The person who steps into this position will be an innovative, out-of-the-box thinker and a hands-on problem solver. You should be technically deep, with experience in overall design and performance of rotary equipment and combustion engines (spark ignited and compression ignited).

This person will oversee the development of an engine technology program. You will be responsible for leading a team of 10-15 engineers, technicians, machinists, consultants and contractors. Additionally, you will manage customer programs including (to start):

  • A clean-sheet 40-horsepower engine for UAV and generator applications (approximately two-year program, to satisfy performance, efficiency and durability requirements)
  • Complete pre-production prototype for a 3-horsepower beta engine (to satisfy durability and emission requirements for the target application)

 

Requirements

  • Degreed engine/powertrain engineer (MS or Ph.D. preferred) with ten years of leadership experience
  • Diligent and professional with exceptional communication skills
  • Must enjoy leaving your office to get your hands dirty and be willing to work side-by-side with your team
  • Creativity is highly sought after
  • Must possess expertise in one or more of these engine efficiency improvement technologies: boosting, EGR, HCCI, durability, emissions
  • Understanding and application experience in thermodynamic cycles and combustion systems for CI and SI engines is highly desirable
  • Ability to direct the use of simulation tools (e.g., GT-Power, CONVERGE CFD, thermal and structural FEA)
  • Proposal writing experience
