Pilot Systems International seeks a technician to join our team. This person should be a good all-around vehicle tech with a minimum of five years' experience - someone with mechanical aptitude, some electronics/electrical experience, someone who could help with testing and fabrication. Equipment would include things like scantools, self-test equipment, electronic test equipment, general tools. May end up working with install of data loggers (instrumenting vehicles), creating/modifying harnesses, etc. Should have a good attitude and enjoy working as part of a team.

Technical Fellow - Internal Combustion Engines

Technical Fellow

The Technical Fellow is an out-of-the-box thinking and hands-on problem solver who will assist the Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering and the rest of the engineering team in resolving technical issues, researching complicated technical topics and suggesting improvement to both engines and programs. This person will have extensive experience in the following:

  • Internal combustion engines – both compression ignited and spark ignited
  • System-level and sub-system-level expertise
  • Thermodynamics
  • Combustion
  • Research and development
  • Analysis and application of various analytical tools

Requirements

  • Ph.D. and experience in developing novel technologies related to internal combustion engines
  • Must possess a deep understanding and ability to apply thermodynamic cycles and combustion systems for modern CI and SI engines
  • High-level analytical abilities are a must
  • Will have excellent communication skills
  • Must enjoy analyzing and explaining test results and suggesting additional experiments to test hypothesis
  • Experience in or an understanding of modern CFD (preferably CONVERGE) and 1D engine modeling (preferably GT-Power) and the ability to direct simulation efforts
  • Should have demonstrated experience completing multiple projects independently, from problem definition to reporting
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex thermodynamic model validation and improvement
