Designing the Future of Powertrain Technology through Collaboration
When a major automotive manufacturer was struggling to determine what mix of Powertrain Technology they were going to implement in their vehicles going into the future, Pilot Systems was brought on to utilize our patented Collaborative Decision Process to develop a unique portfolio of engine families.
The Challenge
Pilot was brought on by a major OEM to develop a Powertrain Technology Roadmap that would keep up with the fast-paced industry evolution.
Result
We developed a multi-year powertrain strategy that was approved by the board of directors and then implemented by the OEM. The strategy led to one of the most successful powertrain programs in North America.
We worked with our client to develop a long-term roadmap that took into account current and evolving industry and market trends including new energy sources, emissions reduction and e-mobility. During this process, our team interviewed key industry executives, performed competitive analysis on leaders in the industry, and considered several alternative strategies which were finally developed and combined into one "Hybrid" solution. The collaborative approach that Pilot took in this project provided the client with a shared understanding of the process and results from day one which ultimately concluded with buy-in from the organization.
