In 2019 Pilot was contracted by the DoT, to enhance the DOT’s understandings of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). In the process of contributing to the DOT’s knowledge base, Pilot developed Pilot’s definition of a critical missing element of an eventual AV presence, that being a VOIS™.

A BEV is a Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV). Industry people understand that a BEV must meet all vehicle safety regulations (FMVSS). That makes sense. But the vehicle emits (virtually) no emissions. At least, not from the vehicle. So, how tough could it be to receive EPA (CoC) and ARB (EO) documents?
