Pilot Systems has a long track record working on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD). ADAS and AD exposes a large attack surface and cybersecurity weaknesses could have devastating consequences. Automotive Cybersecurity is not only a key requirement but a crucial pre-requisite for safe ADAS and future self-driving cars.

Pilot often acts as the Regulatory Compliance Management Office for smaller and startup vehicle companies. Pilot specializes in helping OEMs and Tier Ones to manage regulatory compliance in areas including emissions (EPA, CARB, ZEP, HVIP) and safety (NHTSA). Pilot is skilled at achieving compliance in grey areas of the regulatory codes. Pilot uses their proprietary Regulatory Compliance Process, CertTrac, to manage these demanding efforts.

In 2019 Pilot was contracted by the DoT, to enhance the DOT’s understandings of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). In the process of contributing to the DOT’s knowledge base, Pilot developed Pilot’s definition of a critical missing element of an eventual AV presence, that being a VOIS™.
